Dodgers’ Kershaw Exits Start in 2nd Inning With Pain in Big Toe

UPDATE, 8:14 p.m. ET:

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said after the game that X-rays on Kershaw’s toe were negative. Kershaw will now undergo an MRI on Monday. *** The Los Angeles Dodgers received a scare Sunday afternoon when Clayton Kershaw exited his start against the Chicago Cubs in the second inning with pain in his big toe. Kershaw, who was making his second start of the season, allowed two runs on two hits and two walks before leaving the game. He threw 28 pitches, 17 for strikes. The Dodgers said Kershaw is day-to-day with the injury. Kershaw’s exit is a major blow to the Dodgers, who are already without Walker Buehler (elbow) and Tony Gonsolin (shoulder). David Price started in Kershaw’s place on Sunday and allowed three runs on five hits in 4 1/3 innings. The Dodgers are now 6-5 on the season. They will face the Cubs again on Monday night at Dodger Stadium.
